Within the Collective
Awareness at Grounded
At Grounded, we strive to contribute to a better and more just society. We acknowledge that we live in a world in which inequality and discriminatory and violent behavior are deeply rooted - and our community is not exempt from these dynamics. That is why, at Grounded, we have an Awareness Circle in place, and we commit to creating a safer and more welcoming and comfortable space for everyone.
Our Awareness Circle has made it its goal to facilitate collective reflection and dialogue, and to challenge social structures of dominance and oppression by sharing information, promoting desirable behavior, and providing support.
At all our parties, we work with an Awareness concept to help affected persons, and throughout the year, we host different Awareness events and workshops - for instance on privilege, consent or (eco)feminism - to facilitate awareness and empathy. The highlight is our annual International Women’s Day event where we celebrate and give the center stage to FLINTAs (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Agender, and other marginalized gender identities and sexualities) and their stories and contributions. Take a look at our upcoming events to see what’s up next!
On the Festival Grounds
Awareness at Grounded Festival
Our standpoint at Grounded is very clear: No sexual harassment or assault, and no form of racist or otherwise discriminatory or violent behavior is tolerated. Therefore, we have set up an Awareness concept for our annual Grounded Festival, as well as for all other parties and events we organize at Grounded.
Awareness volunteers (in pink safety vests) are present at all times and are there to support anyone who may experience harassment, assault or discriminatory behavior, and to guide them to a Safer Space area set up for this purpose.
In addition, at the Awareness point, you can get information on topics such as sexism, racism, inclusion and privilege, in a party context and beyond, and engage in conversation through games, exercises and art.
The most important thing is: We are there for you and you can always reach out to our crew if you feel unsafe! So if you ever feel (or felt) unsafe in any way within the Grounded environment, please let us know so we can support you as best as possible and take the necessary measures. You can reach out:
- Through our email address: awareness@grounded-festival.com,
- Through our anonymous Awareness complaints box, in case you don’t want to share your identity: Grounded Awareness Box, or
- By contacting our Awareness volunteers in the pink safety vests or any member of the Awareness Circle directly
It’s never too late to speak up. Only together we can learn, grow and make this world a better place.
